Relocation of the railyard provides the unique opportunity to consider removal of the Cambell Street overpass structure, improve regional mobility and emergency vehicle access, and improve railyard operations. The railyard’s current location is not ideal for RCP&E due to the presence of vehicular traffic, the impacts it has train operations, and the frequency of train backups onto nearby at-grade crossings. While relocation of the railyard and reconfiguration of the railway is not guaranteed, this possibility offers an opportunity to make the surrounding area safe, accessible, and functional for all roadway users in the future.
